The Korea Forest Service Selects Kim Min-sik's 'The Time of Trees' as Winner of the Green Literature Award

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service has selected Kim Min-sik's essay collection "The Time of Trees" as the winner of this year's Green Literature Award (11th edition).


According to the Korea Forest Service on the 29th, the Green Literature Award is a representative literary award in the forestry field, organized by the Korea Forest Literature Association with support from the Korea Forest Service to discover and honor forestry-related literary works.


This year, a total of 147 works in genres such as poetry, novels, and essays were submitted for the literary award competition. The Korea Forest Literature Association conducted a final evaluation of six shortlisted works and unanimously selected the winner.


The winning work of the Green Literature Award received high praise for its humanistic approach to expressing the author's long contemplation of the time created by trees, emphasizing respect for life and green environmental sentiment, thereby integrating and reinterpreting the value of forests and human life.


The Korea Forest Literature Association plans to hold the Green Literature Award ceremony at the National Institute of Forest Science on the 19th of next month.


Kim Jong-geun, Director of the Forest Recreation and Hiking Division at the Korea Forest Service, stated, "Over the past 10 years, the Green Literature Award has contributed to raising public interest in forests through the participation of many literary figures. We will continue to provide unwavering support so that the Green Literature Award can contribute to the promotion of forest culture."
