Popular Donut on MZ's 'Bbangji Pilgrimage' Course... First Exclusive Store Entry by Domestic Distributor
Additional Opening in December at Gocheok I'Park Lifestyle Shopping Center 'The Grow'
I'Park Mall Strengthens F&B Sector Strategy... F&B Sales Up 67% After Reopening
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] HDC I'Park Mall announced on the 29th that it will introduce the donut specialty brand 'Old Ferry Donut,' which is gaining popularity among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), on the 4th of next month.
Old Ferry Donut, which first debuted in 2016, is a first-generation donut brand popular on social media (SNS) as a 'Hannam-dong donut hotspot where you have to line up to eat' and one of the 'Top 3 donut spots in Seoul.' The Old Ferry Donut Yongsan I'Park Mall branch will be available from the 4th of next month at the 4th-floor cafe street of I'Park Mall.
The Old Ferry Donut Yongsan I'Park Mall branch is the first official store located inside a domestic retail store. It is expected to solve the previously lacking 'joy of eating on-site' that was missing in the existing pop-up stores and shop-in-shop formats.
To keep pace with the expansion of the Yongsan commercial district and the rapid changes in consumer trends, I'Park Mall has been strengthening its food and beverage (F&B) sector since 2020, accelerating its transformation into a 'Yongsan dining hotspot.' The number of F&B stores, which was only about 60, has increased to around 120 in two years, and F&B sales from June to August after reopening (resumption of business) rose by 67% compared to the same period last year.
Recently, it has been sequentially introducing 'Tartine Bakery,' praised by The New York Times as the 'best bread in the world,' 'FOUR B,' a cafe famous for its bagels in Gwanghwamun, and 'Our Bakery,' a hot place near Dosan Park.
An I'Park Mall official said, "Old Ferry Donut, leading the donut trend in Korea, is considered an essential stop for the MZ generation's 'bread pilgrimage' due to its unique branding and continuous development of donut menus tailored to Korean tastes. I'Park Mall will continue to develop content to provide customers with diverse experiences."
Meanwhile, I'Park Mall plans to additionally open an Old Ferry Donut store at 'The Grow,' a lifestyle shopping center scheduled to open at Gocheok I'Park in December.
