[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 29th, the People Power Party Central Ethics Committee decided to initiate disciplinary procedures against former floor leader Kwon Seong-dong for drinking alcohol and singing at the party retreat. The disciplinary review for former leader Lee Jun-seok is scheduled for the 6th of next month. Lawmaker Kim Seong-won, who caused controversy with inappropriate remarks at a flood damage site, received a severe penalty of a six-month suspension of party membership rights.

On the same day, Lee Yang-hee, Chairperson of the People Power Party Ethics Committee, disclosed the meeting results during a briefing held immediately after the ethics committee meeting at the National Assembly.

The Ethics Committee decided to issue a 'strict warning' to lawmaker Kwon Eun-hee, who was reviewed for opposing the establishment of the Police Bureau and advocating the impeachment of Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min.

Regarding lawmaker Kim Hee-guk, who was indicted on bribery charges, the committee stated that they imposed a corresponding sanction under 'Article 22, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 3 of the Ethics Committee Regulations.' This regulation stipulates that upon indictment, the right to run in various intra-party elections and eligibility to apply for nominations are suspended, and the duties of party branch chairpersons and party positions are also suspended.

Meanwhile, the Ethics Committee held a plenary meeting at the National Assembly from 7 p.m. on the 28th until past midnight but did not submit the additional disciplinary proposal against leader Lee Jun-seok as initially announced.

After the plenary meeting, Chairperson Lee met with reporters and said, "While the disciplinary procedure against party member Lee Jun-seok is very important, there were also several other disciplinary cases to initiate. We have scheduled the next meeting for October 6. We will review the cases on the 6th."
