[Asia Economy Reporter Heeyoon Kim] The world's first battery-powered pure electric passenger aircraft has successfully completed its maiden flight.

CNN Business reported on the 27th (local time) that Israeli electric aircraft startup Aviation Aircraft's pure electric passenger plane "Alice" took off from Grant County International Airport in Washington State, USA, and successfully completed its first flight.

Alice is a 9-seat passenger aircraft that flew for 8 minutes at an altitude of approximately 1,067 meters after takeoff before safely landing.

Gregory Davis, CEO of Aviation Aircraft, said, "This is the first time since the 1950s, when piston engines were replaced by turbo engines, that the power source of an aircraft has changed," adding, "The successful flight of Alice is a historic moment."

According to Aviation Aircraft, Alice can fly 815 km for one hour with a 30-minute charge. Its top speed is approximately 462 km/h.

Aviation Aircraft, an Israeli startup founded in 2015, is currently developing three models of Alice for passenger and cargo use. They aim to obtain FAA certification in 2025 and begin customer deliveries in 2027.
