[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The police are conducting a search and seizure operation at Daejeon Hyundai Premium Outlet.

According to the Daejeon Police Agency on the 28th, the police sent 11 officers to Hyundai Outlet around 5 p.m. to carry out the search and seizure.

The police are expected to secure documents related to safety equipment such as sprinklers and smoke control facilities at Hyundai Outlet, fire inspection status within the store including the Jiba parking lot, and CCTV footage from the time of the fire.

In particular, by checking the log records of sprinklers and smoke control facilities, it is anticipated that they will verify whether the safety equipment was operating normally at the time the fire occurred.

The police also plan to collect equipment servers from the disaster prevention room that stopped working during the extinguishing process. Additionally, Hyundai Outlet officials are expected to be summoned soon to investigate whether there were any gaps in the safety management supervision obligations.

A police official stated, "We plan to analyze the materials secured through the search and seizure to examine the cause of the fire and whether the fire safety equipment was functioning at the time of the fire."

Meanwhile, on the same day, the police, along with the National Forensic Service, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and fire authorities, conducted a second on-site investigation for five hours starting at 10:30 a.m.

During the on-site investigation, the police moved a 1-ton cargo truck parked in front of the loading dock on basement level 1 to the National Forensic Service for a detailed inspection.

The loading dock on basement level 1 is presumed to be the initial ignition point of the fire, and CCTV footage from the day of the accident reportedly shows flames starting around the cargo truck.
