[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is expanding exchange and cooperation with Vinh Phuc Province in Vietnam. Vinh Phuc Province is a city with a population of 1 million adjacent to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and has recorded an average annual economic growth rate of 14.8% over the past 20 years, serving as the economic hub of northern Vietnam.

In particular, northern Vietnam, where Vinh Phuc Province is located, is a gateway to developing the huge consumer markets of not only ASEAN but also southern China, and recently, Korean companies have been continuously entering the area.

Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim Dong-yeon met with Le Duy Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam, at the Seoul Central Cooperation Headquarters office on the 28th and agreed to cooperate for the development of relations between the two regions.

At the meeting, Governor Kim said, "Vietnam is the most dynamically growing country in Southeast Asia, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of Korea-Vietnam diplomatic relations, presenting a good opportunity for development," adding, "I hope this meeting will lead to more active exchanges in economy, investment, and human exchanges between Gyeonggi Province and Vinh Phuc Province."

He continued, "Gyeonggi Province is the heart of the South Korean economy not only in terms of population but also economic scale and investment," and added, "I understand that many companies are operating in Vinh Phuc Province, and we will spare no support to build good relationships with our companies."

Le Duy Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee, said, "There are many Korean companies in Vinh Phuc Province, including many from Gyeonggi Province," and expressed his invitation, "I hope you will pay attention not only to Vietnam but also to Vinh Phuc Province and promote the investment environment of Vinh Phuc to investors. We would appreciate it if you could officially visit Vinh Phuc to meet with the Party Secretary of Vinh Phuc Province."

In particular, Le Duy Thanh proposed establishing a Gyeonggi Province Enterprise Support Center in Vinh Phuc Province.

In response, Governor Kim replied that they would look for ways to cooperate through practical consultations.

The meeting was arranged at the request of Le Duy Thanh, who visited Korea for economic exchange.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Gyeonggi Province and Vinh Phuc Province began in 2016 when a Gyeonggi Province delegation visited Vinh Phuc. Subsequently, in 2017, Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, Party Secretary of Vinh Phuc Province, and in 2019, Tran Van Vinh, Deputy Secretary of Vinh Phuc Province, visited Gyeonggi Province.
