October 16: Leading Girl Group NewJeans' First Solo Variety Show, Busan Travel Program Premiere
K-pop and Busan Collaboration... Expectations for Tourism Market Recovery and 2030 Busan World Expo Bid
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City and Busan Tourism Organization are promoting the Busan tourism brand by producing the first solo travel reality show with ‘NewJeans,’ a new icon of K-pop who has swept domestic and international music charts.
This project is being promoted as an international tourism city promotional marketing project utilizing K-content, capturing the chaotic travel story of the girl group ‘NewJeans,’ who have a global fandom beyond Korea, exploring various places in Busan and experiencing diverse food and activities.
On the 26th and 27th, over one night and two days, the filming of NewJeans’ first group travel entertainment program ‘NewJeans Code in Busan’ was successfully completed.
This program features key locations such as ▲Songdo Sky Park Observatory ▲Bupyeong-dong Kkangtong Market ▲Dadaepo Beach & Dream Sunset Fountain ▲Skyline Luge ▲Jeonpo Tool Street ▲Cheongsapo ▲Yacht + Gwangalli (Drone Show), allowing viewers to experience various parts of Busan through travel information obtained via QR codes.
The program reveals sweet tips from the youngest member on how to deliciously enjoy Busan food for the older sisters visiting Busan for the first time, and showcases pure and quirky genuine charms of NewJeans that cannot be seen on broadcast, including competitive spirit battles at hot activity spots popular among the MZ generation.
‘NewJeans Code in Busan’ will premiere on SBS at 12:10 AM on Sunday, October 16, and will air a total of three episodes every Sunday. Highlights and behind-the-scenes videos can also be found on Busan Tourism’s official YouTube channel, ‘VISIT BUSAN.’
From mid-October to the end of November, an event called ‘NewJeans Code Mission Certification’ will be held on the YouTube channel (VISIT BUSAN), offering signed CDs and merchandise from NewJeans.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “The collaboration between K-POP artists attracting global attention and Busan, which has natural tourism resources, is expected to enhance the recognition of the Busan tourism brand, aid the recovery of the tourism market that was stagnant due to COVID-19, and greatly contribute to attracting the 2030 World Expo to Busan.” He added, “I hope that the happy travel content in Busan, where people watch, laugh, and enjoy together, will become an opportunity to promote Busan as a city where people want to live again to the world.”
