[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] KB Financial Group announced on the 28th that it will hold the debate marathon 'KB Solverton Competition.'
'Solverton' is a compound word of the English words 'solve' and 'marathon,' referring to an idea competition where participants form teams to come up with ideas within a limited time on a given specific problem, then present, debate, and derive solutions.
Under the slogan "Manage KB!", this competition is a tournament-style intercollegiate contest where participants, acting as the virtual CEO of KB Financial Group, solve tasks that KB Financial must accomplish under the theme "Finance that Changes the World."
Eligible participants are students currently enrolled in domestic and international universities and graduate schools, and they can participate in teams of four. Since it is an intercollegiate competition, team members must be from the same school. Multiple teams from the same school can participate, but only three teams per school can advance to the finals.
In particular, in line with KB Financial's expansion into Indonesia, one special Indonesian team, interested in Korea and proficient in Korean, will also be invited.
Through the first round of document and video screening, 16 teams will be selected. The finals will be held from November 24 to 26 at KB Insurance InjaeNium located in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, where four teams will be chosen to advance to the final round.
The final round will take place on December 1 at the new building of KB Kookmin Bank headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. Programs such as conversations with the group CEO and expert advice for idea concretization are also planned for the teams advancing to the finals.
The ultimate winning team will have a separate discussion time with KB Financial Chairman Yoon Jong-kyu to further develop their ideas.
The 16 teams advancing to the finals after the preliminary round will receive benefits such as exemption from document screening when applying for employment at KB Kookmin Bank in the future, along with a total prize of 30 million KRW and various benefits including overseas academic training.
The grand prize team, awarded the Speaker of the National Assembly Award, will be given an opportunity for academic training linked with institutions such as MIT and Cornell University, along with a prize of 5 million KRW. All selected ideas will be reflected in KB Financial's business.
Applications can be submitted on the official website until October 21.
