"In the Era of High Inflation, Bulk Products Gain Popularity"

WEMAKEPRICE, 'Large-Volume Daily Necessities' Transaction Amount Increases by 121%

"In the Era of High Inflation, Bulk Products Gain Popularity"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Recently, demand for bulk daily necessities has been increasing. It is analyzed that a consumption pattern emphasizing 'cost-effectiveness' is emerging due to the combination of rising prices and economic recession. Wemakeprice announced on the 28th that the transaction amount of major bulk daily necessities over the past month, from the 27th of last month to the 25th of this month, increased by 121% compared to the same period last year.

By product, the increase in items with relatively long shelf life and easy long-term storage was notable. The transaction amounts of hygiene products such as bulk toothpaste (378%), bulk soap (69%), and bulk shampoo (15%), as well as representative household items like bulk detergent (78%) and toilet paper (63%), all showed growth. Additionally, sales of bulk coffee (215%) and bulk snacks (31%) also increased significantly.

The shift from the 'small package' product purchase pattern, which had increased over the past few years, to bulk product purchases is due to the rise in daily necessities prices and the emergence of a frugal consumption trend centered on the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). A Wemakeprice official stated, "The trend of preferring bulk products is expected to continue for the time being due to high inflation and economic recession," adding, "We will work with our partners to offer various promotions to provide bulk products across categories at more affordable prices, not only for daily necessities."
