Roy Visual Signs Broadcasting Rights Contract for Guli with France and 'Robocar Poli'
Kocca Supports Online Business Matching at 'China Expo'
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) announced on the 28th that they operated a Korean joint pavilion at 'Brand Licensing Europe,' held over three days from the 20th in London, UK. Brand Licensing Europe is the largest B2B event in Europe for planners, producers, and distributors in the character licensing industry. This year, about 220 exhibition booths and approximately 8,000 industry professionals participated.
KOCCA operated the Korean joint pavilion with the aim of enhancing the recognition of domestic character companies to promote overseas expansion and expand export channels. The ten participating domestic companies were Daewon Media, The Pinkfong Company, Devsisters, Royvisual, ICONIX, Young Toys, Aurora World, J-Bucks, Cuties, and Take One Studio. They achieved high results with export consultation amounts of approximately $35.97 million (about 51.3 billion KRW) and contract promotion amounts of about $11.15 million (15.8 billion KRW). A KOCCA official stated, "Companies striving to re-enter the European market after the pandemic showed remarkable progress," adding, "In particular, Royvisual signed a contract with the major French broadcasting channel Gulli for the French broadcasting rights and VOD service rights of the animation 'Robocar Poli.'"
The Korean joint pavilion was so busy that it was difficult to schedule meetings without prior reservations. Some companies separately discussed schedules for individual meetings after the event. Kim Rak-gyun, head of KOCCA's Popular Culture Division, said, "We will continue practical support so that the popularity of K-characters spreads worldwide." KOCCA will assist with online business matching at next month's 'China Licensing Expo.' In the first half of next year, they plan to support companies participating in the 'Licensing Expo.'
