[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The National Police Agency announced on the 28th that it has signed a business agreement with KT and the Financial Security Institute to eradicate telecommunication financial fraud (such as voice phishing).
The business agreement ceremony took place the previous day at the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, where the institutions agreed to join forces to prevent damage from telecommunication financial fraud crimes. According to the agreement, the National Police Agency will share the latest crime-related data obtained from telecommunication financial fraud cases with KT and the Financial Security Institute. This data will be used to develop security technologies aimed at preventing fraud damage.
Yoon Seung-young, Director of the Investigation Bureau at the National Police Agency, stated, "We will continue to develop advanced technologies that can protect the public's assets from crime through cooperation with related organizations to realize a safe society." Park Jong-ho, Head of KT's Network Control Headquarters, said, "Based on the nation's top-level network security facilities and technological capabilities, we will actively cooperate with the National Police Agency's crime crackdown efforts."
