[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jung-wan] A dog trapped in a locker at Dongdaegu Station in Daegu was rescued by the Railway Judicial Police who responded following a citizen's report.

According to the railway police on the 27th, a report was received on the 25th of this month around 8 p.m. that a dog was trapped in a locker at Dongdaegu Station.

The railway police who arrived at the scene, with the cooperation of Dongdaegu Station, opened the locker and rescued the dog.

A citizen identified as Mr. A, who found the dog, said, "While trying to retrieve an item from the locker, I noticed water dripping inside the locker filled with moisture, and upon closer inspection, I found a dog trapped inside."

The dog, which showed signs of dehydration at the time of rescue, has been moved to an animal shelter for treatment, and the person who abandoned the dog has not yet been found.

The animal rights organization CARE stated on their official Instagram on the same day, "We will file charges of animal abuse against the person who abandoned the dog and disappeared."

They added, "Since the locker contained a doghouse, food, and water, it is judged to be intentional abandonment rather than temporarily placing the dog there," and "CARE will proceed with the adoption process to take in the dog currently being cared for at the Daegu Animal Shelter."
