According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, a total of 34,715 people were confirmed with COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 2,539 fewer than the previous day's count at the same time (37,254). Compared to a week ago on the 20th (39,772), it decreased by 5,057, and compared to two weeks ago on the 13th (91,239), it decreased by 56,524. The 13th saw a temporary increase in confirmed cases due to increased diagnostic testing following the Chuseok holiday.
Based on the same time on a Tuesday, this is the lowest number in 12 weeks since July 5th (18,606). Considering there is still time until midnight when the count is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 28th is expected to be in the high 30,000s. Among the confirmed cases as of 9 PM on this day, 17,893 (51.5%) were from the Seoul metropolitan area, and 16,822 (48.5%) were from non-metropolitan areas.
By region, the numbers are: Gyeonggi 10,146, Seoul 7,122, Incheon 2,077, Gyeongnam 1,940, Gyeongbuk 2,032, Daegu 1,514, Chungnam 1,268, Gangwon 1,313, Chungbuk 1,202, Busan 746, Daejeon 1,014, Jeonnam 999, Jeonbuk 1,180, Gwangju 1,010, Ulsan 625, Jeju 228, and Sejong 299.
