Opened 'Romania Newsroom' the day before
Operating 40 sites in 52 regions worldwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electronics is increasing its overseas promotion by continuously opening newsrooms that share company news worldwide.
On the 27th, Samsung Electronics announced the opening of a newsroom in Romania. With the opening of the Romanian newsroom the day before, the total number of newsrooms increased to 40 across 52 regions. The newsrooms operate in a total of 19 languages. At the beginning of last year, they were only operating in 36 regions. This means 16 new regions have been added in about 1 year and 9 months.
The Romanian newsroom is the fifth newsroom opened this year in the Eastern Europe region. As the Romanian market has grown into a major market for electronics such as TVs and home appliances, the company opened the newsroom to communicate company news and region-specific activities in the local language.
Earlier, on the 14th, Samsung Electronics opened a newsroom in T?rkiye, a key market in the Middle East and Europe. In July, newsrooms were also opened in Singapore, the headquarters of Southeast Asia, and in Austria and Switzerland, key countries in Central Europe. Last year, newsrooms were opened in nine Arabic-speaking regions in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in Australia and Indonesia.
A Samsung Electronics official explained, "Since the COVID-19 pandemic, online influence has expanded further, so we have actively increased communication hubs with regions. We are strengthening regional communication by opening newsrooms mainly in places with high business importance and increasing online communication."
Since 2010, Samsung Electronics began online communication with customers by launching a corporate blog. Then, in 2015, it opened the global newsroom and the Korean newsroom for the first time. From 2016, it started operating country-specific newsrooms in the United States, Germany, Vietnam, and others.
Samsung Electronics explained that this move aligns with the company’s vision to provide customized experiences and information to consumers worldwide through "glocalization," which simultaneously pursues globalization and regional specialization.
Consequently, the influence of the newsrooms has naturally grown. Last year, the number of visitors to regional newsrooms increased by about 30% compared to 2019, and the total cumulative number of visitors surpassed 200 million.
The information provided has also diversified. In addition to in-depth product analysis and user experiences, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) messages such as contributions to local communities, environmental management activities, diversity policies, and employee stories are continuously increasing.
A Samsung Electronics official said, "We plan to open additional newsrooms in the Nordic, Eastern European, and Southeast Asian regions within this year. We will continue to expand the number of countries operating newsrooms to strengthen online communication tailored to each region."
