This contest, which was extensively promoted on 50 newspaper and literary recitation sites, was hosted and organized by the Korean Education Newspaper Association (Representative Lee Heeseon).
The eligibility for this contest was limited to poet reciters who have been recognized with at least two crowns in recitation skills. The contest rigorously evaluated recent activities and three works recognized by the public as poetry recitations. Additionally, it selected seminar topics on the development direction of poetry recitation and the globalization of poetry recitation, requiring systematic and original presentations of over 10 minutes to comprehensively assess the reciters’ insights in this comprehensive arts poetry recitation contest.
Representative Lee Heeseon of the newspaper company stated in the contest announcement that the purpose of this contest is “not just to find ordinary poet reciters, but to discover special professional poet reciters who represent Korea with skills and insights, providing a foundation and empowering them to advance globally with professional confidence.”
Teacher Kim Sookhee has planned and promoted school poetry recitation events involving students, teachers, and parents for 15 years. She currently holds the top position as the multi-crown winner of the national poetry recitation contest, having received the Korea Best Record Certification grand prize. She is a master of poetry recitation at the Seoul headquarters of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations and serves as the chairperson of the poetry recitation division of the Jeonnam Literary Association. She has showcased charismatic recitation performances on major stages in Korea, including the ‘National Assembly Poetry Recitation Night.’
Among the four judges, Kim Soonjin, publisher of Seoul Story Literature and a judge, said in a congratulatory speech, “This contest, with its special and unique purpose, will be an opportunity to further develop the world of poetry recitation.”
Judge Yeon Jeonghee said, “Poet reciter Kim Sookhee graduated with a master’s degree in English and completed the Creative Writing Department at Gwangju University three years ago. She is preparing to present her thesis in May next year,” adding, “Currently, she is a scholarly and passionate teacher and poet reciter studying literature and cultural arts while majoring in the Cultural Arts Management track at Kyung Hee University,” responding with words of encouragement and praise.
