To Promote Mental Health of Residents... Gijang-gun Mental Health Welfare Center and Ilgwang Ttunteun Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic Sign Agreement

Officials from the Gijang-gun Mental Health Welfare Center and Ilgwang Tteuntteun Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic are taking a commemorative photo after signing the agreement.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the 23rd, the Busan Gijang-gun Mental Health Welfare Center and Ilgwang Ttunteun Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic signed a business agreement to carry out the ‘Neighborhood Clinic and Mental Medical Institution Treatment Connection Project.’

The ‘Neighborhood Clinic and Mental Medical Institution Treatment Connection Pilot Project’ is a program that screens patients at risk of mental health issues among those using neighborhood clinics, which are non-psychiatric primary medical institutions, and connects them to local mental medical institutions or mental health welfare centers.

In the case of Gijang-gun, a total of seven clinics are participating in the pilot project, including Ilgwang Ttunteun Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic, Gyeongdong Orthopedic Clinic in Gijang-eup, Dasom Medical Clinic, Lee Gwang-wook Internal Medicine Clinic, Nokship Medical Clinic in Jangan-eup, Suyeonhap Internal Medicine Clinic in Jeonggwan-eup, and Son Family Medicine Clinic in Cheolma-myeon.

A representative of the Gijang-gun Mental Health Welfare Center said, “Through this agreement, we will actively cooperate with medical institutions in the region to promote the mental health of Gijang residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and proactively respond to mental health crises in the local community.”

The Gijang-gun Public Health Center has been entrusting the operation of the Mental Health Welfare Center to Haeundae Paik Hospital since 2018 and is promoting severe management projects for welfare of mental illness patients in the area as well as various other mental health promotion projects.

In 2020, as a result of actively promoting a carbon monoxide poisoning suicide prevention project, it was selected as an excellent institution and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.
