[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyuk-jun] The national budget for pending projects in Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been reflected with over 100 billion won in the 2023 government budget proposal.

Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 26th that a total of 57 projects amounting to 109.9 billion won have been included in next year's government budget proposal.

This includes 45 ongoing projects with 99.8 billion won and 12 new projects with 10.1 billion won.

Accordingly, Hwasun-gun expects to achieve a national budget exceeding 100 billion won for the second consecutive year, following last year’s 72 projects totaling 126 billion won.

The vaccine, bio, and advanced medical fields received the largest budget allocation with 47.8 billion won across 11 projects.

This includes 15.8 billion won for the expansion of the Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center, 5.6 billion won for the establishment of an m-RNA vaccine demonstration support infrastructure, 1 billion won for peptide development and resistant cancer treatment research and development, as well as 2.1 billion won for the new project ‘Microbe-based Vaccine Specialist Training’.

Budget was also allocated for living SOC sectors such as the Hwasun Oncheon-Baegasan connecting road construction and Sapyeong-myeon basic living base creation project, as well as disaster prevention projects like the Beolgo1 disaster risk improvement district maintenance project.

Included were 38.95 billion won for the Buk-myeon district local water supply, 4 billion won for the Hwasun 2nd phase local water supply expansion project, and 13.79 billion won for the Dogok district sewage pipeline maintenance project, totaling 38.99 billion won for local water supply, sewage, and sewage treatment maintenance projects.

On the same day, the county held the ‘2023 National Treasury Request Progress Report Meeting’ to review the status of national budget acquisition for next year and discuss additional acquisition plans.

Governor Gu Bok-gyu said, “For projects not yet reflected, please make every effort to actively secure additional national funds by engaging relevant ministries and the National Assembly.”

He added, “With a large portion of the budget allocated to the vaccine and bio sectors, which are future food industries of Hwasun, we can accelerate the establishment of a global vaccine hub. We will devote all efforts to securing national funds until the government budget is finally confirmed.”
