[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The 33rd Jeongeupsa Cultural Festival, the representative festival of Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, successfully concluded on the 24th and 25th at Jeongeupsa Park, attracting great interest from citizens and tourists.
According to the city on the 26th, the Jeongeupsa Cultural Festival is a cultural event honoring the noble and beautiful virtue and chastity of the Jeongeupsa woman, held alongside the stunning natural scenery of Naejangsan and its beautiful red autumn leaves.
Under the theme "A Thousand Years of Waiting, Eternal Love," this festival is said to have left unforgettable autumn memories for citizens and visitors to Jeongeup.
The festival began on the morning of the 24th with the Chae-su ritual and the Jeongeupsa woman memorial ceremony, followed by performances by Jeongeup art groups and a spectacular street parade by professional performance teams.
At 6 p.m., the commemorative ceremony featured a special opening performance by trot fairy Kim Dahyun, followed by the Buddha Statue Award ceremony (Yoo Oksun, Soseong-myeon, Jeongeup City), the lighting ceremony of the landscape lights, and congratulatory performances.
Especially, the magnificent fireworks show that decorated the sky over Jeongeupsa Park and the LED balloon release, conveying messages of comfort and encouragement amid the weariness caused by COVID-19, captivated the audience.
On the 25th, the Jeongeupsa Song Festival, a gateway for new singers, was held successfully on a special stage.
This song festival saw over 120 applicants nationwide, and after preliminary screening on the 17th, 12 teams were finally selected to advance to the finals through fierce competition.
As a result of the competition among the 12 teams, Mr. Choi Jeongcheol won the grand prize with the song "I Know the Heart of Lim Youngwoong," receiving a prize of 3 million won and a certificate from the Jeollabuk-do Singers Association.
In addition, various experiential events such as sending love postcards, hanging wish lanterns, face painting, and food booths, along with the landscape lighting installed in Jeongeupsa Park, attracted many visitors.
Mayor Lee Haksoo said, "I hope the devoted love of the Jeongeupsa woman from over 1,300 years ago has been conveyed to everyone," adding, "We will continue to strive to develop the Jeongeupsa Cultural Festival to widely promote the historical and cultural value of Jeongeupsa."
Meanwhile, the colorful and splendid night landscape lighting created throughout Jeongeupsa Park will be maintained until November 6 to provide visual enjoyment for citizens and tourists.
