Damyang-gun, All-Out Effort to Secure Budget for Solving Local Issues

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it is making every effort to secure next year’s budget amid fierce competition among regions to secure budgets in preparation for the government’s fiscal austerity policy.

To this end, the county visited the Jeollanam-do Budget Officer and relevant departments on the 2nd to secure the budget for next year’s Balanced Development Special Account conversion project, and on the 23rd, the Planning and Coordination Office Director, Budget Officer, and relevant section chiefs met to explain Damyang-gun’s local pending projects.

In particular, they requested the selection of the Yeongsan River Damyang district for the regional customized integrated river project, a public contest project, and proposed a total of 59 projects worth 44 billion KRW in balanced special account conversion projects, including ▲ installation of Damyang Lake water conduit and maintenance of drinking water exclusive reservoirs ▲ development of eco-friendly alternative water sources and advanced water treatment facilities ▲ premium Damyang strawberry high value-added and export platform establishment ▲ creation of Damyang Korean Garden experience space.

The regional customized integrated river project is a Ministry of Environment public contest project (50 billion KRW) aimed at improving river environments and establishing tourism infrastructure and revitalizing the local economy through linkage with river and surrounding development projects. It is finally selected by the Ministry of Environment after priority selection by Jeollanam-do.

A county official said, “We will actively respond to securing resources to create a happy, self-reliant economic city for all, which is the goal of the 8th elected administration.”
