[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Polaris Office, a specialist company in office software (SW), announced on the 26th the launch of a document security solution incorporating new technology called ‘POLARIS WATCHER’.
Polaris Watcher is a content disarm and reconstruction (CDR) technology-based solution designed to defend against attacks that execute malware using document files. Unlike traditional pattern-based antivirus solutions, CDR technology is an advanced threat prevention technology that does not rely on detection. It removes potential security threats within documents and extracts only verified elements to reconstruct a clean document. The core is to ensure the safe use of document files.
Unlike existing CDR solutions, Polaris Watcher offers differentiated features such as ▲malware detection ▲inspection of various compressed files ▲detection of file vulnerabilities and tampering ▲detection and identification of corrupted files. It also guarantees the integrity of the original document by removing only malicious content within the document.
The solution can be applied anywhere secure document transfer is needed, such as email, web servers, document centralization, and network linkage systems. In particular, when Polaris Watcher is applied to email, email security functions are provided together. This enables blocking of spam emails that spam blocking solutions fail to detect.
The solution is released as an integrated hardware (H/W) unit. Additionally, through a convenient user interface (UI), administrators can easily manage the system.
A company representative stated, “We have launched a document security threat prevention solution so that companies concerned about the safety of externally incoming documents can use documents safely and prevent external attacks through malicious documents in advance,” and added, “We plan to develop and release various products such as subscription-based products for small and medium businesses (SMB) and individual users, as well as entering the public market through obtaining Good Software (GS) certification in the future.”
