[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Ji-eun and Geum Bo-ryeong] Seong Il-jong, Chairman of the Policy Committee of the People Power Party, targeted Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who posted the phrase "Turning a blind eye to injustice is injustice," by firing a direct shot, saying, "Why did you tolerate injustice when you defended your nephew, who committed a heinous crime that is hard to even mention, as 'mentally impaired'?"
At the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly on the 26th, Chairman Seong said, "I wonder if Leader Lee is truly qualified to discuss 'injustice' and 'turning a blind eye'."
Lee’s nephew, Mr. Kim, was indicted for killing a mother and daughter with a weapon at a residence in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, in May 2006. At the time of the murder case defense, Lee claimed that his nephew was in a state of diminished mental capacity, and he is currently being sued by the bereaved family.
Chairman Seong criticized, "Does Leader Lee only see the injustice of others and not the injustice around himself and his surroundings? When it was revealed that his wife, Kim Hye-kyung, misused a corporate card, why did he claim ignorance and 'turn a blind eye'? Why did he not prevent his wife's injustice from the beginning?"
