[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Copyright Commission (Chairman Choi Byung-gu) announced on the 26th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Musical Producers Association (President Shin Chunsu) to support the copyright industry in performing arts.


This agreement was made to promote the musical industry through support for the performing arts copyright industry.


Through this agreement, the Commission and the Association will cooperate on ▲ research and policy support for the development of copyright law in response to changes in the market environment of the performing arts sector ▲ joint promotion of timely surveys and research addressing copyright issues faced by musical production companies, such as musical video production and overseas expansion ▲ industry support for musical copyright protection and fair copyright distribution culture ▲ education and promotion for workers to spread the proper copyright usage culture in the performing arts field.


The Commission plans to seek support measures that can provide practical help on site, such as copyright policy and research support in the musical field, development of practical training programs on overseas copyright laws related to musicals, and overseas contract drafting.


Choi Byung-gu, Chairman of the Korea Copyright Commission, said, “We will do our best to establish a channel that can continuously discuss and assist with copyright-related issues arising in the musical production and distribution field, so that we can provide practical help to the musical industry field.”
