Gangnam Cha Women’s Hospital Recruits Professor Park Wonsun, Authority in Treatment of Extremely Premature Infants

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] Gangnam CHA Women's Hospital of CHA University of Medicine and Science announced on the 26th that Professor Park Wonsun, a pediatrician and authority in the treatment of extremely premature infants, has started his practice.

Professor Park graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1982 and obtained his Ph.D. in medicine from the same graduate school. He worked at Samsung Seoul Hospital from 1994 until recently and served as the president of the Korean Society of Perinatology from December 2016 to December 2019.

Professor Park has dedicated himself to the establishment and development of neonatal intensive care units, a key field in the era of low birth rates. He is a pioneer in the treatment of high-risk neonatal intensive care patients, including extremely low birth weight infants. Professor Park has treated more than 150 neonatal intensive care patients annually, including extremely low birth weight infants under 1500g.

Cha Donghyun, director of Gangnam CHA Women's Hospital, said, "With the recruitment of Professor Park, we expect the capabilities of the high-risk maternal management system at Gangnam CHA Women's Hospital, as well as the level of care in the treatment of high-risk neonatal intensive care patients including extremely premature infants, to be elevated to a new level."
