[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Due to the decline in the resurgence of COVID-19, the number of new confirmed cases nationwide decreased to the 10,000 range by 9 PM on Sunday, the 25th.


According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 13,679 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.


This is 11,386 fewer than the same time the previous day (25,065). It is 4,985 fewer than a week ago on the 18th (18,664), and 21,946 fewer than two weeks ago on the 11th (35,625).


Based on the Sunday interim tally, the number of confirmed cases dropped to the 10,000 range last week for the first time in 10 weeks since July 10 (12,213). On this day, it recorded the 10,000 range for two consecutive weeks.


Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced on the 26th is expected to increase from this figure but remain in the 10,000 range.


As of 9 PM on this day, new confirmed cases were 7,276 (53.2%) in the metropolitan area and 6,403 (46.8%) in non-metropolitan areas.


By region, the numbers are: Gyeonggi 4,015, Seoul 2,335, Incheon 926, Gyeongbuk 787, Gyeongnam 740, Daegu 721, Chungnam 569, Gangwon 539, Chungbuk 471, Gwangju 460, Jeonbuk 449, Jeonnam 443, Daejeon 406, Busan 325, Ulsan 214, Jeju 145, and Sejong 134.


From the 19th to this day, the daily new confirmed cases for one week were 19,389 → 47,897 → 41,269 → 33,005 → 29,108 → 29,353 → 25,972, with a daily average of 32,259.
