Yoo Seung-min: "Lies Are Worse Than Harsh Words"... Criticism of Explanation on 'Yoon's Profanity Controversy' Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min (Photo by Yonhap News)

[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min raised his voice of criticism against the presidential office's explanation regarding President Yoon Seok-yeol's 'vulgar language controversy,' saying, "Lies are worse than abusive language."

On the 25th, Yoo said on his Facebook, "Once trust is lost, nothing works. A naked king becomes merely an object of ridicule."

He continued, "Since the presidential office said it confirmed the content with President Yoon, the entire nation had to repeatedly replay the video and wonder, 'Did I hear it wrong?'" He added, "Since it is his own words, the president knows. Honesty is the best policy. How can we trust if there is no honesty?"

Yoo also pointed out that the Korea-US currency swap issue was not resolved during this recent trip. He said, "Before the visit to the US, the economic chief said, 'The Korea-US currency swap will be discussed,' so I had expectations. However, the Korea-US currency swap was not even mentioned, and now the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy says it is 'premature.'"

He then criticized, "The exchange rate has broken the 1,400 won level, yet they say it is 'premature,' which is absurd. If the Korea-US currency swap is premature, then why are they doing a $10 billion currency swap between the National Pension Service and the Bank of Korea, which is far less effective?"

Along with this, Yoo added, "Trying to hide incompetence with inconsistent words only leads to loss of trust. Both the president and the party must deeply reflect on what should be done first to restore the people's trust."
