The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled announced on the 25th that they have selected four organizations, including InnoWith Co., Ltd. and Korea Rural Community Corporation, as recipients of the 'True Company' award (Trusted Companies for Disabled Employment) for their efforts in employing people with disabilities.
Since its inception in 2006, the 'True Company Award' is a commendation system where the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Agency present the Minister of Employment and Labor Award to companies and institutions that have diligently worked to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities, thereby enhancing their pride.
This year, the True Company Award recipients were InnoWith Co., Ltd. for the Grand Prize, Korea Rural Community Corporation for the Gold Prize, Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital for the Silver Prize, and Korea Gas Safety Corporation for the Bronze Prize.
InnoWith Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of LG Innotek and operates as a standard workplace for people with disabilities. Established in May 2012, it has been committed to promoting employment for people with severe disabilities and women with disabilities by employing many of them. The company signed an agreement to promote employment for people with disabilities with the Agency in 2013 and has expanded its business areas to include cleaning services, convenience stores, cafes, and vending machine operations, striving to provide quality jobs for people with disabilities.
Korea Rural Community Corporation conducts separate recruitment for people with disabilities in the first and second halves of the year and has worked to increase employment of people with severe and women disabilities through additional points in the hiring process. By diversifying suitable jobs for people with disabilities such as library clerks, document storage managers, and farmland bank counselors, it was selected as an excellent case of disabled employment by the Agency this year. As of December last year, the employment rate of people with disabilities reached 5.68%.
Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital developed an orchestra job for people with severe disabilities and hired 25 people with severe disabilities as regular employees. The Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital Orchestra sets an example for improving awareness of disabilities through weekly concerts. The hospital plans to hire an additional five people with disabilities next year.
Korea Gas Safety Corporation has actively expanded employment of people with disabilities by continuously discovering suitable jobs for them, starting with the 'Gas Equipment Illegal Distribution Cyber Surveillance Team' in 2020 for job experience and vocational training for people with severe disabilities. As of December last year, the employment rate of people with disabilities reached 7.11%, and the corporation plans to improve the employment rate of regular disabled workers going forward.
Cho Hyang-hyun, Director of the Agency, expressed gratitude to the award-winning companies and institutions for their efforts to expand and stabilize employment for people with disabilities, stating, "The Agency will actively promote the best practices of True Company awardees and will continue to do its utmost to support the expansion of quality jobs for people with disabilities."
