[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicles Ioniq 5 and EV6 have surpassed 100,000 units in global cumulative sales this year.


According to the electric vehicle specialized media Cleantechnica on the 25th, Hyundai Motor's Ioniq 5 and Kia's EV6 recorded cumulative sales of 60,985 and 48,131 units respectively from January to July this year. The combined sales of the two models totaled 109,116 units.


Cleantechnica compiles and announces electric vehicle sales by combining battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) as 'plug-in vehicles.'


During the same period, the world's best-selling electric vehicle model was the Tesla Model Y with 344,928 units sold, followed by the Tesla Model 3 (236,518 units) and Volkswagen ID.4 (82,632 units) in second and third place.


The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are the first dedicated electric vehicles launched by Hyundai Motor Group's affiliates Hyundai Motor and Kia, equipped with the group's dedicated electric vehicle platform E-GMP.
