[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City has begun inspections to ensure the smooth hosting of the ‘2030 Busan World Expo Bid BTS Concert.’
On the 23rd, Busan City held a preparation status inspection meeting chaired by Mayor Park Hyung-joon to support the ‘2030 Busan World Expo Bid BTS Concert’ scheduled for October 15.
Since BTS’s Busan performance was confirmed, much attention has been focused on the event. Busan City plans to support the concert with sincerity to ensure that the main purpose of promoting Busan’s bid for the World Expo is not diluted.
Since the end of August until the 23rd, the city has held four inspection meetings to thoroughly establish comprehensive support measures.
Additionally, support measures by sector have been prepared in cooperation with district and county offices, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and the Police Agency. HYBE has also participated in meetings to exchange opinions and ensure nothing is lacking for the concert.
The meeting on the 23rd was arranged for Mayor Park Hyung-joon to review the preparation status and personally request any missing parts before his business trip to Latin America for the Expo bid.
First, the city has formed six task forces under the leadership of the Deputy Mayor, covering planning, transportation, accommodation readiness, safety, live play, and publicity, operating a comprehensive support TF.
During the meeting, each task force reported on their preparation status, focusing on ▲audience accommodation measures ▲safety measures ▲transportation and logistics measures.
Regarding audience accommodation, detailed discussions were held on measures such as ▲the ‘Accommodation Price Reporting Center’ operating since the 15th ▲strengthening inspection teams ▲concentrated deployment of guides and interpreters at major gateways and tourist information centers ▲support for overnight tenting spectators around the venue ▲a warm welcome citizen campaign ▲and events targeting tourists to enhance the city’s tourism brand image.
For safety measures, an emergency medical system was established with Busan’s emergency medical institutions and regional trauma centers, and PCR testing sites for overseas arrivals will be expanded in anticipation of the global ARMY’s entry.
Inspections of the main venue, Asiad Main Stadium, and live play locations such as Bukhang and Haeundae Beach began at 10 a.m. on the 23rd to ensure safety. Venue inspections will be conducted four times.
Moreover, preparations are underway to comprehensively monitor 348 CCTVs around the venue, with additional CCTV installations planned.
Transportation and logistics measures aim to minimize inconvenience for spectators by expanding public transportation and securing parking spaces. The city plans to maximize public transport availability through discussions with related agencies, including increasing urban rail services, adding city and village buses, and lifting taxi restrictions.
The city will announce detailed traffic management plans by the end of September. In early October, a comprehensive concert support plan will be finalized, followed by several inspection meetings and the operation of sector-specific task forces.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon of Busan said, “We must successfully hold the event as an opportunity to showcase our capability to host the Expo to the world,” and urged, “Please prepare thoroughly without a single error.”
The mayor added, “To embody the passion for the Expo bid, please focus on linking and elevating the level of promotion through various festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival and Busan Fireworks Festival in October and November.”
Information for visitors regarding tourism, accommodation, transportation, luggage storage, and safety can be found on the Busan City website and official SNS channels.
