Goseong-gun Expands Support Programs for Postpartum Recovery and Newborn Care

Health Care Workers Visit Homes Directly to Support Families with Births Exceeding 150% of Median Income

Goseong-gun Public Health Center, Gyeongnam.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will expand support for postpartum care workers for mothers and newborns, which was previously provided to households with income below 150% of the median income, to include households exceeding 150% of the median income starting from applicants on August 22 this year.

The postpartum care support service is a program where professionally trained care workers visit families after childbirth to assist mothers with postpartum recovery and newborn care.

Care workers provide essential standard services for the health management of mothers and newborns, including breast care for mothers, edema management, newborn cleanliness and hygiene management, support for breastfeeding and vaccinations, and meal preparation for mothers.

The application period is from 40 days before the expected delivery date to 30 days after the delivery date, and the service can be used within 60 days after the delivery date.

Applications can be made by visiting the Goseong-gun Public Health Center in person or through the online welfare portal.

Gu Won-seok, director of the Public Health Center, said, “We hope that the expansion of the postpartum care worker support project will help all mothers in childbirth families with postpartum recovery and newborn care.”
