Sharpening Service Provided by Darimdol Volunteer Group Composed of Retired Public Officials
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced on the 22nd that it conducted the 21st mobile Hope Welfare Service of 2022 in Wondal Village, Jukgok-myeon.
The Hope Welfare Mobile Service is a Gokseong-gun community-based welfare policy that visits villages where residents live every Thursday to provide various services.
Services include agricultural machinery repair, traditional Korean and Western medical treatment, electrical safety inspections, mobile laundry, mobile bathing, massage, knife sharpening, customized counseling, disinfection, and residential fire safety inspections.
Among these, the knife sharpening service was the most popular during this Hope Welfare Mobile Service.
Village residents gathered in front of the village hall carrying bundles containing dull knives or scissors upon hearing the news of the mobile service team's visit.
The knife sharpening service was conducted by the Darimdol Volunteer Group, composed of retired public officials.
The volunteers worked hard, transforming knives and scissors to look like new. Residents who received the sharpened knives responded with smiles.
Notably, Governor Lee Sang-cheol of Gokseong-gun personally participated in the volunteer service that day, attracting attention.
The governor directly performed services such as knife sharpening, mobile laundry, and massage, communicating with the residents.
A resident A who received the knife sharpening service said, "It is really convenient that they come to the village to sharpen knives for elderly people like us. This kind of service is much more helpful than building some big structure."
A county official stated, "We will do our best to operate the Hope Welfare Mobile Service team. We will not overlook inconveniences that may seem trivial and will strive to help residents lead better daily lives."
Meanwhile, Governor Lee Sang-cheol, who volunteered that day, listened to residents' difficulties and instructed staff to actively identify and improve residents' issues regularly.
