[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Seoul School of Integrated Sciences and Technologies (aSSIST, President Kim Taehyun) announced on the 22nd that it is recruiting new students for the dual-degree MBA program with Aalto University in Finland (formerly Helsinki School of Economics) for the spring semester of 2023.
The dual-degree MBA with Finland's Aalto University is a global Executive MBA program first established in Korea in 1995. aSSIST has been a partner of Aalto University since 1995 and has jointly operated this program for 28 years, allowing students in Korea to earn a regular master's degree from Aalto University’s Business School. The school stated, "This is a 1 year and 6 months program held on weekends, optimized for working professionals who want to balance work and study," adding, "As of August this year, there are 4,320 graduates of this program in Korea, and when combined with the global alumni from the same program held in Finland, Singapore, Taiwan, and other locations, the total exceeds 18,000."
The program is conducted over the shortest degree completion period in Korea, consisting of three semesters (1 year and 6 months). Classes are held only on weekends in a modular system where one subject is intensively studied over 2 to 3 weeks to accommodate busy professionals. Students can choose between a Korean-English bilingual class or a 100% English class, and both Gangnam and Gangbuk campuses are available to enhance learning convenience. A notable feature is the adoption of the ‘Open Platform’ system from Aalto University, a leading education country in Finland. The Open Platform invites top scholars from various fields domestically and internationally to lecture regardless of their home university affiliation.
The regular curriculum includes mandatory MBA courses such as strategy, marketing, finance, accounting, and human resource management, as well as practical subjects like ESG management, negotiation strategy, design management, international marketing, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation, designed for working professionals to apply directly to their business practices.
On October 19th next month, an admission briefing will be held with Hannu Seristo, Vice President of Aalto University, and alumni working in various industries. All attendees will receive admission scholarship benefits. Applicants who have obtained a bachelor's degree from a domestic or international accredited university and have at least 5 years of work experience including 3 years of professional experience are eligible to apply. Applications and inquiries can be made via the website or by phone.
Meanwhile, Aalto University is located in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, a leading education country, and ranked 7th in the ‘World Innovative University Rankings’ announced by the World University Ranking System (WURI) in June. It was ranked 34th globally in the UK Financial Times ’2022 Executive Education Ranking‘ and was selected in the top 100 in the ’2022 Global EMBA Ranking‘.
