[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City, together with the Economic Promotion Agency, held a special overseas pavilion and briefing session for Busan medical tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, actively promoting Busan's excellent medical technology and tourism resources, conducting over 60 consultations with local buyers, and signing a total of 11 business agreements between companies.

From the 14th to the 17th, the four-day "This Year's Busan Medical Tourism Industry Overseas Special Pavilion (Medical MICE)" was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, jointly with the "2022 Vietnam Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Expo (Pharmed&Healthcare Vietnam)."

The city not only operated the exhibition hall but also carried out various side events such as the Busan medical tourism briefing session, business consultation meetings, medical technology seminars, and sales calls to target the Vietnamese market.

Busan and Ho Chi Minh City have been sister cities since 1995, engaging in international exchanges in various fields such as economy and culture for 27 years.

At the opening ceremony of this expo, the city attended together with officials from the Vietnamese Department of Health, demonstrating active cooperation in medical technology exchange between the two cities, which received high interest and positive responses from the locals.

Vietnam, a country targeting mild patients, has recently shown increased interest in beauty and aesthetics due to the Korean Wave. Considering this, through the four-day operation of the Busan special pavilion, participating institutions focused on marketing specialized medical tourism products such as plastic surgery, dermatology, health checkups, and ophthalmology.

Busan makeup experiences and various customer attraction events were also conducted to promote tourism resources and the 2030 Expo bid.

On the 14th and 15th, over two days, a Busan medical tourism briefing session was held targeting about 100 major local buyers.

Participating groups including Busan medical institutions introduced excellent medical technologies and key products, and conducted approximately 60 consultations with interested buyers at the exhibition booths, establishing a local network base.

Additionally, through Busan-Vietnam beauty exchange events and Busan medical technology seminars, Busan's beauty medical technology was introduced, creating a platform for exchange in the plastic surgery beauty industry and forming a new partnership with the Vietnam Beauty Association.

Furthermore, to serve as a foothold for attracting medical tourists, the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and the participating group achieved the result of signing 11 business agreements with major local buyers.

Considering the rapid monthly increase of Vietnamese tourists visiting Busan due to the resumption of direct flights, the city plans to invite key buyers who established cooperative relationships through this event to the Busan Medical Tourism Convention (9.30?10.1) and promote various exchange projects such as familiarization tours.

Yu Gyuwon, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of the city, said, "Targeting Vietnam, where interest in Korean beauty has grown due to the Korean Wave such as Korean dramas and K-POP, we aim to expand the medical market and revitalize the attraction of medical tourists," adding, "With the reopening of air routes that were blocked after the endemic, we will strengthen marketing to revitalize the medical tourism industry, which had been stagnant, through pioneering the Vietnamese market."
