[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A 40-year-old man in Jinju, Gyeongnam, has been subject to an arrest warrant application for attempting to set fire to a female lawyer's office.
According to Jinju Police Station on the 20th, around 9:30 a.m. on the 18th, a man in his 40s, Mr. A, carried a gasoline can to the office of female lawyer Ms. B in downtown Jinju and attempted to set it on fire.
Mr. A sent Ms. B a text message saying, "If you don't meet me, I will set fire," along with a photo of the gasoline can placed on Ms. B's office desk.
The police, who responded to Ms. B's report, urgently arrested Mr. A at the scene on charges including violation of the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes and Attempted Arson of General Buildings.
It is known that Ms. B served as a public defender for Mr. A when he was on trial for attempted murder in 2014, and Mr. A was released in March after serving a prison sentence.
Police investigations revealed that Mr. A had contacted Ms. B multiple times since around August of this year.
