[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] O Tae-wan, the governor of Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, is drawing attention by rolling up his sleeves and inspecting current projects to upgrade the value of Uiryeong-gun.
On the 19th, Uiryeong-gun held a briefing session chaired by Governor O on the 2nd floor meeting room of the county office to review major current projects of the 8th elected administration.
The county discussed urgent issues such as the construction of the access road to Burim General Industrial Complex, the project to revitalize small schools, the creation of the Sagaksagak Youth House, measures to activate the hometown love donation system starting next year, and countermeasures for the decline in agricultural product prices.
In particular, at the briefing session, Governor O emphasized the need for a rapid approach to major current projects and urged the execution of policies that embody the ‘special value’ unique to Uiryeong-gun.
Notably, the ‘Uibyeong Experience Zone,’ a historical pride of Uiryeong, will be established in the Uibyeong Museum, and a cultural festival featuring ‘Hanji,’ Uiryeong’s traditional specialty, will also be held. Uiryeong’s local cuisine, ‘Rich Food,’ will soon be introduced as well.
Governor O cited the creation of the ‘Uibyeong Experience Zone’ in the Uibyeong Museum, which combines the Uibyeong story with 4th industrial technology, as an example and requested that the ‘Uiryeong spirit’ be infused into major current projects.
The ‘Sinbyeon Cultural Festival,’ set against the backdrop of Uiryeong Hanji and the Gayageum, will be held for the first time in three years. During the festival, Uiryeong-gun plans to conduct hands-on Hanji-making experiences with Hanji master Shin Hyun-se and to promote Uiryeong’s unique traditional culture by hosting the ‘6th National Gayageum Competition’ in commemoration of the birth of Ureuk.
Governor O said, “The policy goal can be to steadily accumulate and widely spread the meaningful values unique to Uiryeong,” adding, “Let us always hold proudly in our hearts the pride of Uiryeong as the hometown of loyalty and patriotism and overcome crises with confidence.”
