Seven Eleven Launches Low-Sodium Triangular Kimbap... "Healthy Taste Without Saltiness"

Expansion of Sodium Reduction in Dosirak and Gimbap

Sodium-reduced triangular kimbap sold at 7-Eleven.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Seven Eleven announced on the 20th that it has launched two types of 'Sodium-Reduced Triangle Kimbap' with sodium content reduced by more than 30% compared to its similar triangle kimbap products.

This Sodium-Reduced Triangle Kimbap was developed by Seven Eleven with support from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The Whole Ham Fried Rice Triangle Kimbap is topped with whole ham with reduced sodium on mushroom vegetable fried rice, and the Ham Tuna Mayo Triangle Kimbap is topped with reduced sodium ham and tuna mayonnaise. The sodium content in the rice was also generally lowered, resulting in a 35% reduction in total sodium content for the Whole Ham Fried Rice Triangle Kimbap and a 30% reduction for the Ham Tuna Mayo Triangle Kimbap compared to similar products from the company.

Seven Eleven plans to release additional Sodium-Reduced Triangle Kimbap products in the future, as well as sodium-reduced items in kimbap and lunch boxes.

A Seven Eleven representative said, “With the mindset of taking the lead in the health management of the public, we worked closely with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to create these products,” adding, “While maintaining the taste as much as possible, the sodium has been reduced so that it is not salty but still offers a healthy flavor.”
