[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution is reviewing whether to conduct an internal investigation into Jin Hye-won, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Busan District Prosecutors' Office (age 47, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 34), who posted mocking comments about First Lady Kim Keon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, on a social media (SNS) account.

According to the legal community on the 19th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office received a disciplinary request this morning from Lee Jong-bae, a Seoul City Council member (People Power Party), who claimed that Prosecutor Jin violated the duty of political neutrality and engaged in conduct that damaged the dignity and reputation of a prosecutor, and is currently verifying the facts.

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office is expected to determine whether an internal investigation of Prosecutor Jin is necessary and decide on future measures accordingly. The Prosecutor Disciplinary Act stipulates that the Prosecutor General may request the Ministry of Justice to discipline a prosecutor who violates official duties or damages their dignity or reputation.

Recently, Prosecutor Jin posted a past photo of First Lady Kim on Facebook, writing, "I wonder if you know how to spell Julie." Additionally, at the end of the post, she included an English word implying 'prostitute,' which sparked controversy.
