[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting a reduction in water and sewage fees for Dongcheon-dong. The city expects 131 households affected by the flood to benefit from this measure.
On the 19th, the city announced that it decided to fully waive the water and sewage fees for August usage (billed in October) for 131 households in Dongcheon-dong, Suji-gu, which suffered damage from last month's heavy rain.
This is due to Dongcheon-dong being designated as a special disaster area. The 131 households affected by the flood will receive a total reduction of about 30 million KRW in water and sewage fees through this measure. The fee reduction will be applied without a separate application.
A city official said, "We hope this water and sewage fee reduction will provide some help to the residents of Dongcheon-dong who suffered flood damage," and added, "We will do our best to prepare fundamental measures to prevent similar damage from occurring in the future."
From August 8 to 15 last month, 534mm of heavy rain fell in Dongcheon-dong, causing an estimated 3.8 billion KRW in damage, including house flooding and soil erosion, according to city estimates.
