[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Cambridge Members, a men's clothing brand operated by Kolon Industries FnC division (Kolon FnC), announced on the 19th that it will run a special store called 'Beyond HERITAGE' at its Gangnam flagship store from the 20th to October 20th in celebration of the brand's 45th anniversary.
Cambridge Members is a men's suit brand launched in 1977 and acquired by Kolon FnC in 2007, maintaining its authenticity to this day. It notably introduced traditional British suits to Korea and has grown into a representative men's clothing brand in South Korea. Through its MTM service, which condenses extensive suit-making know-how, it has introduced the essence of classic culture. To commemorate its 45th anniversary, Cambridge Members has prepared a special store at the Gangnam flagship store where various collaborations can be seen at a glance.
First, in collaboration with Donghyun Kim, CEO of Tranquil House and the only Korean tailor in Savile Row, UK, five products including jackets and coats will be released. In particular, the two-button jacket features armholes designed based on the Savile Row tailor’s unique ROCK OF EYE method (a master tailor’s technique of drafting patterns based on eye judgment and experience rather than numbers), presenting a British-style jacket exclusive to Cambridge Members.
Additionally, in collaboration with illustrator Nakjin Sung, Cambridge Members introduces a new character called ‘Mr. Charles.’ The character depicts Charles at the age of 45, as well as his 20-year-old self. The 20-year-old Charles is portrayed as a college student enjoying tennis and golf, showcasing Cambridge Members’ classic casual style, while the 45-year-old Charles is depicted as a young executive who is always neat and gentlemanly. Various Cambridge Members products are also illustrated to present a friendly and youthful image of the brand.
To celebrate the 45th anniversary, Cambridge Members will also release KakaoTalk emoticons featuring the character Charles. These emoticons can be obtained for free by newly adding Cambridge Members as a KakaoTalk Plus Friend, designed to imprint the brand’s new image on new customers.
Lee Sangwoo, brand manager of Cambridge Members, said, “We have spared no effort to present proper British suits tailored to the Korean body shape, from patterns to all production processes,” and added, “Please look forward to Cambridge Members, which is starting anew beyond 45 years of heritage through various collaborations and products.”
