- Implementation of Customized Metaverse Solution Services for SMEs and University Laboratories
- Planned Application of AI + XR Technology for Real-Time 3D Motion Response Using Only a Webcam
The emergence of the ‘Metaverse’ has enabled people around the world to meet each other more closely in a wider space. Many accumulate real wealth through economic activities in virtual reality worlds, while companies use it as a promotional platform and a business space integrating blockchain technologies such as NFTs.
As the trend of non-face-to-face interactions spreads, the distance between metaverse spaces and reality is narrowing, and non-face-to-face events and press conferences are being held by leveraging its characteristics. Especially with the spread of COVID-19, the demand for non-face-to-face meetings has rapidly increased across various institutions and companies, leading to a growing demand for ‘my own metaverse space.’
Amid this, DeepXR Lab has introduced a solution that allows interactive experiences of various metaverse spaces without any additional equipment other than a webcam.
‘My Meeting Room,’ launched by DeepXR Lab, is a 3D metaverse platform where meetings can be held in the metaverse. Companies can use metaverse services at a low cost on ‘My Meeting Room,’ and users can participate in video conferences with their own 3D caricature avatars using only a webcam.
In existing 3D metaverse platforms provided by global corporations, users select from preset avatars. In contrast, ‘My Meeting Room’ allows the creation of caricature avatars resembling the user’s face by inputting a photo. The ability to reconstruct a face and outfit into a 3D caricature avatar from a 2D image is a major differentiation from existing metaverse platforms.
The most distinctive feature is that vivid experiences are possible with just a webcam, without purchasing additional equipment such as VR headsets. Even with a low-cost webcam already owned, 3D motions are recognized and converted into 18 joint information points of the 3D avatar, which are then transmitted to the server. This allows users to connect to the metaverse with their own 3D caricature avatar reflecting their actual appearance and experience realistic movements.
From a corporate perspective, the ability to use services at the same level as other products at an affordable price is a major competitive advantage of ‘My Meeting Room.’ It is implemented together with the 3D model of the client participating as a player, enabling real-time motion to be immediately reflected on the platform, reducing network load during server operation.
Starting with ‘My Meeting Room,’ DeepXR Lab plans to provide the metaverse platform service ‘My Metaverse Room’ tailored to the needs of companies aiming to build their own metaverse services. The AI-based metaverse avatar solution ‘My Avatar Studio’ will be supplied as an SDK (Software Development Kit) product.
Based on AI metaverse avatar studio technology, DeepXR Lab is preparing to launch various services following My Metaverse Meeting Room. The beta version of the AI-based Meta Human Studio is scheduled to be announced around the end of October, and the company is preparing to build the ‘My Metaverse Plastic Surgery Consulting Room,’ a semi-permanent plastic surgery non-face-to-face consultation metaverse platform. Development of AI-based celebrity avatars is also planned.
Meanwhile, DeepXR Lab, established in September 2021 through the ‘2021 Korea University Crimson Startup Support Group Early Startup Package Laboratory Startup (2nd phase),’ achieved sales of 270 million KRW within three months after its founding last year and recorded sales of approximately 500 million KRW in 2022. It aims to achieve an additional 200 million KRW in sales in the second half of this year and recently succeeded in attracting 455 million KRW in SI investments, including from Wise Aitech Co., Ltd., BioPlus Co., Ltd., and promising venture company Cyrus Lab Co., Ltd.
A representative of DeepXR Lab stated, “We are accelerating the strengthening of competitiveness by securing intellectual property rights with three registered patents and seven patent applications,” adding, “Our goal is to become a world-class metaverse avatar solution technology venture company supplying user-customized AI-based metaverse platform APIs.”
