On the 15th, the province announced plans to form a dedicated task force (T/F) with the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority and Suncheon City to discuss administrative support measures and investment attraction strategies.
Accordingly, within this month, they plan to hold practical meetings with representatives of Shinsegae Property Co., Ltd., the complex shopping mall operator, to negotiate Suncheon City’s participation.
The province expects that the entry of the complex shopping mall will greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy, improving residential conditions, attracting population inflow, and activating the South Coast tourism belt, and has decided to actively cooperate to realize Suncheon City’s ‘Hwagae Market-type Complex Shopping Mall Plan (draft).’
A complex shopping mall is a new-concept integrated space where shopping, culture, leisure, and entertainment can be enjoyed.
Although it is a facility preferred by many local residents, until now, large-scale store construction projects in the Honam region have repeatedly failed, solidifying the area’s image as an unattractive location for companies.
To overcome this, Jeonnam Province is focusing on creating attractive investment conditions so that businesses can invest with confidence, while also preparing win-win cooperation measures to minimize damage to small business owners and local commercial districts.
Lee Geonseop, Head of the Job and Economy Headquarters of Jeonnam Province, said, “If the complex shopping mall is attracted, it will create quality jobs and have a great effect on revitalizing the local economy. We will devote all our efforts to securing it by forming a consensus with local residents throughout the process.”
No Gwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon City, showed strong determination to attract Starfield Suncheon in a meeting with Governor Kim Young-rok immediately after the launch of the 8th local government administration and requested Jeonnam Province’s active interest and support.
