[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The “2022 Artificial Intelligence Science Golden Bell” event for families, hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City and jointly organized by the National Gwangju Science Museum and Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will be held on the 22nd of next month.
Now in its third year, this event is a family-participation science culture event where students and parents form a team to solve quizzes on scientific knowledge including science, artificial intelligence, and future technologies. Unlike the previous two competitions, this year’s event will be held on-site at the outdoor pilotis of the science museum.
The questions will be evenly drawn from physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, and future science and technology fields including artificial intelligence, considering the curriculum and participant levels. Some of the questions will be released in advance on the National Gwangju Science Museum website.
Applications will be accepted via email by the 2nd of next month, with up to twice the number of participants allowed. Final participants will be selected through a lottery. Any 4th to 6th-grade student attending elementary school in Gwangju can apply, and applications can be made as a team of two, consisting of a student and a parent.
All final selected participants will be specially provided with free admission tickets to the “2050 Carbon Zero City” special exhibition held at the National Gwangju Science Museum, parking tickets, and children’s science museum admission tickets.
Award winners will receive the following: one team winning the Golden Bell will receive the Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor’s Award, two teams winning the Silver Bell will receive the Buk-gu Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City Chief’s Award, and three teams winning the Bronze Bell will receive the National Gwangju Science Museum Director’s Award. Additionally, generous prizes will be given through surprise quizzes for visitors during the event.
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director, said, “The National Gwangju Science Museum holds the Artificial Intelligence Science Golden Bell event annually in cooperation with Gwangju Metropolitan City and Buk-gu Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City to keep pace with the AI era,” and added, “Since the event, which was previously held only online, will be held outdoors at the science museum this year, we ask for the citizens’ great interest and participation.”
