Geochang-gun Holds 2nd Interim Report Meeting on Gamaksan-Ahopsan Area Master Plan

Expectations for Future Growth Engine Utilizing Military Forest Resources

The second interim report meeting for the Gamaksan-Ahopsan area master plan in Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam was held.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam held the 2nd interim report meeting on the 14th for the 'Master Plan Establishment Service for Forest Recreation Tourism in the Gamaksan, Geonheungsan, and Ahopsan Areas.'

The report meeting held in the county office situation room was attended by County Governor Gu In-mo, related village chiefs, and relevant officials.

At the meeting, specific forest recreation tourism plans for the development of the Gamaksan, Geonheungsan, and Ahopsan areas were presented, reflecting opinions from the 1st interim report meeting held in August.

Eco-friendly measures such as creating a healing forest and forest camping sites utilizing the scenery around Gamaksan were proposed, along with suggestions to develop the Geonheungsan and Ahopsan areas into tourist destinations with stories based on local village legends.

According to the county, this master plan service for forest recreation tourism in the area started in December 2021 and is scheduled to continue until October 2022.

The county plans to refine the plans from the 1st and 2nd interim report meetings and incorporate additional opinions to prepare a complete master plan for forest recreation tourism.

County Governor Gu In-mo said, “It seems that many good opinions from the previous interim report meeting have been reflected,” and added, “We will review the projects presented at this meeting and do our best to make a master plan that can turn our county’s forest resources into a future growth engine.”
