[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Charles III, who succeeded the throne, was officially proclaimed King of the United Kingdom.

According to AFP, the Accession Council, composed of the UK government and the royal family, declared at St James's Palace in London on the 10th (local time), "Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, has become King Charles III," and proclaimed, "God save the King."

Charles III automatically succeeded to the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on the 8th.

The accession ceremony, presided over by senior politicians and officials who support the monarch, is an important formal constitutional procedure for the UK to welcome a new king.

At the ceremony, attended by his wife Queen Camilla and eldest son Prince William, Charles III stated, "I am deeply aware of the duties of sovereignty and the heavy responsibilities."
