Helping Pohang Area Affected by Typhoon Damage

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] On the occasion of the Korean traditional holiday Chuseok, the distribution industry has engaged in donation activities such as volunteering to help neighbors and delivering relief supplies to disaster victims.
According to the industry on the 9th, Lotte Group donated 200 million KRW on the 6th to Bobath Children's Clinic and the Korea Social Welfare Association to support developmental diagnosis and early treatment for low-income infants and toddlers. This year, they aim to diagnose about 50 children. The Korea Social Welfare Association selects recipients by connecting entrusted facilities and community networks, and Bobath Children's Clinic will systematically support a professional developmental treatment system. A Lotte Group official stated, “We plan to continue follow-up support by understanding the current status of participating children according to the characteristics of developmental disabilities that require continuous management.”
Shinsegae Duty Free Busan Branch also helped elderly living alone and single-parent families in the Busan area ahead of Chuseok. On the 7th, they delivered daily necessities such as rice, ramen, fruit, and health supplements to 200 underprivileged households in Suyeong-gu, Busan. The prepared daily necessities were provided to 150 elderly people using the meal service and 50 single-parent households.
Homeplus donated daily necessities for disaster victims in Pohang and Gyeongju affected by the typhoon. On the 8th, the Pohang and Gyeongju stores donated emergency relief supplies including 14,500 servings of rice, instant rice, cup noodles, and 1,000 wet tissues. The headquarters delivered ‘Nanum Plus Boxes’ for the holiday to 100 elderly households living alone in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
The convenience store industry also stepped up. On the 7th, Seven Eleven donated sponsored items such as snacks and beverages, along with natural handmade soap made by employees, to Cheongun Orphanage and Hanbit School for the Blind in celebration of Chuseok. On the same day, GS Retail delivered emergency relief supplies containing beverages and energy bars to disaster victims in Pohang City affected by the typhoon.
