[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Agricultural machinery company Daedong announced on the 7th that it will expand its telematics-based ‘Daedong Connect’ service, which enables remote control and management of tractors via mobile devices such as smartphones, to include small and medium-sized tractors and skid loaders.
The service was first adopted last year for large tractors with over 120 horsepower, such as the PX1300, HX1300, and HX1400 models, and distributed to the market. Starting in the second half of this year, it will be applied to medium and medium-large tractors ranging from 59 to 127 horsepower, including the FX, RX, and HX Prime series. Through the Connect service mobile app, users can access five functions: ▲Vehicle Monitoring (Home Function) ▲Vehicle Management ▲Work Log ▲Safe Zone and Time Settings ▲Emergency Call.
The Vehicle Monitoring function allows users to check the location and basic status of the equipment. The Vehicle Management function provides information on the usage status and replacement timing of 12 consumables such as various oils and coolant, as well as detailed fault information. Users can also directly connect to the customer center or dealership through the app to request service.
The Work Log function records daily work details performed with the tractor, including work hours, travel distance, fuel consumption, used implements, and work content. The Safe Zone and Time Settings function sends alert messages to customers if the tractor leaves a designated area or operates outside of preset times by day of the week, helping to prevent theft. The Emergency Call function sends a text message to a designated phone number in case of an accident, enabling prompt rescue measures.
Gam Byeongwoo, head of Daedong’s Product Development Division, said, “Through the Connect service, we will first enhance customer convenience in the management and maintenance of agricultural machinery, and ultimately expand it into a smart farming platform that provides agricultural solutions tailored to farming conditions.”
