[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Juri] Amid controversies over content filming that irritates one-person media hosts such as YouTubers and BJs, AfreecaTV has requested BJs broadcasting near Bucheon Station square to stop their broadcasts.

According to AfreecaTV on the 9th, the company has restricted BJs from broadcasting at 'Pinocchio Square' in Simgok-dong, Bucheon, since mid-last month.

This is the first time the company has banned BJs from broadcasting at a specific location on a company-wide level. Pinocchio Square, about 150 meters from Bucheon Station, is famous for attracting crowds and has been a filming spot for BJs for several years.

Due to this situation, complaints from nearby residents and merchants about noise and personal information leakage flooded Bucheon City, which eventually sent a cooperation letter to AfreecaTV in mid-last month requesting broadcast restrictions within the square.

The company is notifying BJs of the restriction measures via text messages and other means. There is no set deadline for the restriction. AfreecaTV explained that this measure is not a sanction against a specific BJ's broadcasting activities but the first case of restricting all BJs' broadcasts based on location.

Meanwhile, on the 5th, a YouTuber went down to a breakwater in Busan, where a typhoon warning had been issued, and live-streamed the typhoon situation. The YouTuber was swept away by waves and rescued, and about 10,000 people watched the scene live.

Recently, AfreecaTV BJs also uploaded a video filming Indian men's reactions while performing provocative dances in the middle of the streets in India. The video raised concerns among netizens because it was filmed in India, where sexual crimes are frequent.
