- Expecting TimeFlick's growth potential amid rapid expansion of the global smartwatch market
Apposter Co., Ltd. (CEO Kyung Sung-hyun), which operates the wearable fashion tech brand Timeflic, announced on the 7th that it has secured 11 billion KRW in Series B funding.
This investment round included participation from Korea Investment Partners, Hanwha Life Insurance, InterVest, Infobank, Leo Partners Investment, and Komes Investment.
Timeflic is a renewed brand of Mr.Time, which provides a smartwatch face platform and strap services, relaunched earlier this year.
Timeflic’s smartwatch face platform is an app that allows users to easily and quickly create their own smartwatch faces, having recorded over 7 million downloads and won the Excellence Award in the Wear App category at Google Play 2021, competing at the forefront of the global market. Supporting various operating systems (OS) and over 90 devices, it offers diverse features based on a customization engine technology patented in Korea and the United States, enabling users to easily create and apply smartwatch faces tailored to their preferences.
Users can use the DIY tools provided by Timeflic to create watch faces according to their tastes and share them with people worldwide. If creating watch faces directly is difficult, users can also use premium watch faces designed by Timeflic’s designers.
The smartwatch straps operated alongside also include high-quality products designed directly by designers, releasing editions in collaboration with various brands and designers. In particular, collaboration products with Maison Kitsun?, Wiggle Wiggle, NERDY, and Kangol have gained popularity by selling out immediately upon release.
Through this investment, Timeflic plans to accelerate ▲app service advancement ▲building an open market within the platform ▲opening a flagship store ▲and entering the Japanese market.
Within this year, they are preparing to renew the iOS version of the app and build an open market within the platform app where users can directly sell and purchase content they create. They also plan to open Timeflic’s first offline store and collaborate on content with various brands.
A representative from Korea Investment Partners explained the background of this investment, saying, "The global smartwatch market, including Korea, is growing very rapidly, and Apposter has made significant efforts to build a content platform targeting global users since the early days of the smartwatch market. With proven IT technology and design capabilities, it is expected to establish itself as a unique platform in the smartwatch ecosystem through active overseas market expansion."
Apposter CEO Kyung Sung-hyun said, “Smartwatches have become a must-have item for the MZ generation, who are accustomed to expressing their individuality, serving as another channel to showcase their unique tastes.” He added, “With this investment as a turning point, we will focus on enhanced technology and differentiated design to become the leading total solution brand for smartwatches.”
Meanwhile, Timeflic received the Excellent Design Award in the Brand Identity category at the Good Design Awards during its brand renewal.
