[eDisclosure Notice] SK Hynix Expands Cheongju Production Facility... 15 Trillion Won Investment Over 5 Years (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] SK Hynix announced on the 6th that it has decided to expand its Cheongju production facility to secure a foundation for future growth.

Accordingly, SK Hynix plans to invest a total of 15 trillion KRW over the next five years in factory construction and production equipment installation. Specifically, starting from October, it will build M15X (eXtension), an expansion fab of M15, on the existing secured site within the Cheongju Technopolis Industrial Complex.

SK Hynix explained that this investment is expected to enhance market responsiveness and secure a foundation for long-term growth.

Below are SK Hynix’s disclosures along with other major disclosures released during the trading session on the same day.

▲Pan Ocean=Signed long-term charter contracts for three LNG carriers with Korea Green LNG. The contract amounts for the three LNG carriers are 499.6 billion KRW, 501.9 billion KRW, and 423.5 billion KRW respectively, totaling 1.455 trillion KRW. Each contract amount corresponds to 10.8%, 10.9%, and 9.2% of last year’s sales.

▲Samsung Heavy Industries=Signed contracts to build four LNG carriers worth a total of 1.16 trillion KRW with shipowners in Bermuda and Africa. The contract amount for two LNG carriers with the Bermuda shipowner is 583 billion KRW, equivalent to 8.8% of last year’s sales. The contract amount for two LNG carriers with the African shipowner is 582.1 billion KRW, also equivalent to 8.8% of last year’s sales.

▲Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering=Signed a contract to build seven LNG carriers worth 2.0368 trillion KRW with an African shipowner. The contract amount corresponds to 45.4% of last year’s sales, with the contract period lasting until February 27, 2026.

▲Namhae Chemical=Deposited 1.361 billion KRW in foreign currency time deposits (Triple Foreign Currency Free Installment Deposit) at its affiliate NH Nonghyup Bank for operating funds. The interest rate is 3.00%, with maturity on December 5.

▲HJ Heavy Industries=Won a contract worth 100 billion KRW from the Korea Rail Network Authority for the first section of railway construction between Chuncheon and Sokcho. The contract amount corresponds to 5.86% of last year’s sales, with the contract period lasting until February 29, 2028.

▲Woojin Plaimm=Decided on a new investment worth 17.7 billion KRW to expand barrel/screw factory and technical center facilities. The purpose is to enhance productivity through internalization and increase cost competitiveness to maximize business performance. The investment period is until June 30, 2023.

▲SK IE Technology=Decided to acquire 100% equity of its subsidiary SK Hi-tech Battery Materials Poland for 95.879 billion KRW in cash. The acquisition purpose is investment for expanding the Poland factory.

▲Suprema ID=Signed a supply contract worth 1.262 billion KRW with IN Group for fingerprint registration solutions for French electronic resident ID issuance. The contract amount corresponds to 8.7% of last year’s sales, with the contract period until December 15.

▲STI=Signed a supply contract worth 20.885 billion KRW with Samsung Electronics for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The contract amount corresponds to 6.54% of last year’s sales. The contract period is until May 30, 2023.

▲DSK=Decided to acquire treasury shares worth 2 billion KRW to enhance shareholder value through stock price stabilization. The planned number of shares to be acquired is 339,959 shares, to be purchased on the market.

▲HumanN=Signed a domestic marine scrap steel supply contract worth 1.607 billion KRW with Taemin Steel. The contract amount corresponds to 25.24% of last year’s sales, with the contract period until the 5th of next month.

▲GeoElement=Decided on a new facility investment worth 7.796 billion KRW to respond to increased customer demand. The investment amount corresponds to 18.17% of equity capital, with the investment period from the 7th of this month to September 6, 2023.

▲HB Solution=Co-CEO Lee Heung-geun stepped down due to term expiration, changing to a sole CEO system under CEO Lee Jae-won.
