[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Junhyung] Korea East-West Power is advancing a large-scale wind power project in Gangwon Province.

On the 7th, East-West Power announced that on the 5th, it signed a 'Local Company Collaboration Large-Scale Onshore Wind Power Project Joint Development Agreement' with Kyungyang Construction and Geumyang Green Power at the East-West Power headquarters located in Jung-gu, Ulsan. According to this agreement, East-West Power will establish nine wind power complexes in Taebaek and Samcheok cities, Gangwon Province. East-West Power, Kyungyang Construction, and Geumyang Green Power will jointly develop 62 wind turbines to be installed in the wind power complexes.

The total generation capacity of the wind power complexes will reach 280MW. Upon completion, it is expected to supply electricity to 140,000 households across Gangwon Province and reduce approximately 220,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Cho Sang-gi, Head of Business Division at East-West Power, said, "We will leverage this partnership to create a foundation leading the transition to eco-friendly energy," adding, "We will expand onshore wind power development in the Gangwon region, which has excellent wind resources, contribute to achieving carbon neutrality, and devote efforts to creating jobs in the future energy industry."
