A Total of 290 Typhoon Damage Reports Received... Most Are Fallen Street Trees

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Due to the impact of Typhoon Hinnamnor No. 11, damage continued in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.
According to the fire department on the 6th, a total of 290 typhoon damage reports were received from Gwangju and Jeonnam regions from the previous day until this day.
First, in the Gwangju area, 64 related reports were received from 2 p.m. the previous day, when the typhoon advisory was issued, until 9 a.m. this day.
Most cases involved fallen street trees, with 5 cases of window damage and 3 cases of signboard collapse.
At around 9:01 p.m. the previous day, a street tree fell due to strong winds on a highway in Unnam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, blocking part of the road. Although no casualties occurred, vehicle traffic was disrupted for a while, and traffic flow normalized after safety measures were taken by the fire authorities.
At around 8:30 a.m. this day, a signboard fell to the ground due to strong winds near a store close to Lotte Mart Cheomdan branch.
In Jeonnam, a total of 226 related reports were received from 11 a.m. the previous day until 8 a.m. this day. By type, there were 110 road obstructions, 21 signboard cases, 15 housing cases, 5 landslides and rockfalls, and 74 others.
Between 2:17 and 2:50 a.m. this day, water accumulated at a factory and a road in Yeosu, Jeonnam, and drainage and other safety measures were taken.
At 5:49 a.m., an outer wall collapsed in Sanjeong-dong, Mokpo City, Jeonnam, covering a vehicle, and at around 3:15 a.m., a report was received that the underground parking structure was shaking in an apartment complex with over 1,000 households in Hwasun, and safety measures were carried out.
At around 7:50 a.m., in Namak New Town, Mokpo, a street tree fell on a parked vehicle and was cut with a chainsaw to prevent obstruction of traffic.
Power outages also occurred one after another.
From 4:45 a.m. this day, 991 households in multiple apartments in Sochon-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju experienced power outages, all of which were restored within 5 hours.
In Jeonnam, from 7:45 p.m. the previous day until 7:30 a.m. this day, power outages occurred in 12,246 households, of which restoration work is ongoing for 59 households and is expected to be completed within the morning.
Due to the impact of this typhoon, the cumulative rainfall from the previous day until 9 a.m. this day was highest at Baegunsan, Gwangyang, with 235 mm. Other heavy rainfall amounts included Cheongsando 210.5 mm, Haenam Hyunsan 194.5 mm, Wando 190.5 mm, and Jindo 188.6 mm.
In Gwangju, Mudeungsan recorded 139.5 mm, and Buk-gu, the representative point with the highest observation reliability, recorded 83.5 mm.
As of 9 a.m., Typhoon Hinnamnor is moving northeast at 62 km/h about 110 km south-southwest off Ulleungdo.
Typhoon warnings were issued for the entire East Sea, Jeju Island, parts of the South Sea, Gangwon and Chungbuk provinces, Gyeongsang region, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo. In the Gwangju area, the typhoon warning was downgraded to a typhoon advisory at 7:30 a.m. this day and was lifted at 9:20 a.m., two hours later.
